The issue of diversity lately becomes a serious matter in this country. As if the Indonesian Nation is experiencing a tough test in maintaining pluralism on which the establishment of the nation’s unity is based on. Seeing these dynamics, KAGAMA (Gadjah Mada Alumni Family) considers it important to develop and continue to strengthen the unity among the nation’s children. It was delivered by Ganjar Pranowo in his speech during the official opening of the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) KAGAMA 2016 at the Senate Hall of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) on Saturday (17/12) morning.

“Looking at the current situation of our nation, KAGAMA considers that it is important for us to rebuild and continue to reinforce social cohesion, strengthen the solidarity of the nation, maintain unity and also appreciate diversity,” said the chairman of Central Executive (PP) of KAGAMA 2014-2019 period.

According to him, UGM has long been an example to the nation that difference actually reinforces unity and supports the nation’s development. Proven by the global achievements  earned by UGM students who come from all over Indonesia. UGM too has been led by rectors who come from various islands, ethnic groups and religions.

“I urge us all to continue encouraging all elements of the nation to maintain civility in the life nation and state,” he said.

KAGAMA Rakernas agenda this year was filled by the accountability report and the 2016 work program from KAGAMA PP. The report was chaired by the Chairman of KAGAMA PP, Ganjar Pranowo himself. Moreover, Ganjar also officially inaugurated the board of KAGAMA Cirebon and Belitong Pengcab and the board of Vocational School Alumni Family (KAVOGAMA). Also attended the congress, were the UGM Rector Prof. Dwikorita Karnawati and the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi as Chief Executive of KAGAMA PP.

In front of 134 participants from various Regional Executive (Pengda), Branch Executive (Pengcab) and the alumni community in attendance, Ganjar hoped this congress can be a means to strengthen the relationship among Gadjah Mada alumni. “May the National Working Meeting can further strengthen the Alumni Family of Universitas Gadjah Mada, strengthen Universitas Gadjah Mada, the campus whose love and our love for it is infinite!” he exclaimed.
