“Don’t ever be tired of being Indonesian. Bring positive energy wherever we go to make Indonesia better.” So was the advice from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi, given at Grha Sabha Pramana UGM on Wednesday (2/11) as Emtek Goes To Campus (EGTC) 2016 series of events. Requested to be a speaker on the first day of ‘Inspiring Talk” session, the alumna of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM shared her life journey as a diplomat for almost 30 years.

For her, being a diplomat with high mobility on duty wasn’t easy. All the more when she is a woman with a family. “Devotion to country needs hard work. And it is an obligation, not a choice. So just enjoy it,” she said.

Meanwhile, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo analysed the cause of the lack of young generation participation in the political world on the second day of ‘Inspiring Talk’ on Thursday (3/11). According to him, young generation, especially college students, have to be able to change the paradigm that says politics is bad. Whereas politics is an unseperatable part of a democratic country like Indonesia. Almost all country aspects are influenced by political policies.

A lot of people don’t understand the problem at hand and tend to judge unilaterally that political activities are vicious. That is not the case, politics is a form of art that also contains beauty inside it if you take a good look at it.

Beside of ‘Inspiring Talk’ sessions, EGTC 2016 also held various other interesting activities such as Journalism Seminar and Workshop, Campus and School Competition, Job Fair, and Campuspreneur Bazaar for two days. “Emtek opens opportunity for people who are keen to pursue career in the media field to join Emtek Group companies,” said SCTV Program and Production Director Harsiwi Achmad.

The presence of EGTC 2016 received a good reception from UGM academicians. “This kind of activity needs to be appreciated because it is in harmony with vision and mission of UGM towards the future that prioritizes students’ softskill,” said UGM Rector Prof. Dwikorita Karnawati. [Eggy]
