Understanding Japanese Company Work Recruitment

Currently the Japanese companies opened themselves by recruiting 25% international graduates of Japanese and non-Japanese universities each. This is what underlies the Top Career, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, to hold NIN2 (Nippon New Network for Innovation) Job Fair in Indonesia.

“Indonesia is a country with a lot of potential workers based on pyramid-shaped population growth which means there are a lot of population of productive age,” said Kyoro Shimokihara as Top Career International representative for the ASEAN region in NIN2 Job Fair Pre-Event Seminar on Friday (7/10) morning on the second floor of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Central Library. This seminar is part of the NIN2 Job Fair event series which will be held on November 6th, 2016 in Jakarta.

Aside from introducing the culture of work recruitment in Japan at the seminar, Kyoro also gave tips to get through the Japanese company interview stage. In this session, Kyoro revealed that several examples of interview questions are closely related to self-reflection. For example, a question about the biggest decisions you have ever taken, whether or not you possess a deeper knowledge about the job in the future, to the employment objectives.

On this occasion, Kyoro also underlined which feature that is actually sought by companies in Japan. “You need to know beforehand that Japanese companies are very concerned with the potentials of their prospective employees,” he said. Including employee’s values, ideologies and habits. These kinds of things apparently get more attention than knowledge and experience because companies in Japan have a lot of training programs for their employees.

The seminar, which was attended by around 150 students and UGM alumni, went on interactively with various questions from participants. “Now many companies are interested in global recruitment especially Japan, which has a good reception for fresh graduates. So do not hesitate to prepare yourself for a global career,” concluded Kyoro, ending the seminar, which lasted for two hours. [Eva]
